How to handle infant constipation

Saturday 6 June 2009 @ 6:26 pm

baby-constipation-150x150 How to handle infant constipation

While the infants seems to be constipated, the best way is to contact his doctor for advice.

Constipation occurs when the stools sit longer than normal in the colon. Since the colon’s purpose is to remove water from the stool, stools that sit longer than normal in the colon may tend to get much harder, making it difficult to pass them.

Just because your baby grunts, strains, and turns red in the face doesn’t mean that she is constipated. When a baby is a newborn, his anus is very tight, although it will loosen over time as it becomes stretched from bowel movements. Until then, it can be easier for an infant to seem constipated because he grunts and gets red-faced before a bowel movement. If your baby appears to be in pain, however, as she attempts to have a bowel movement, or she cries while straining, she may indeed be constipated.

How to handle infants’ cold

Monday 1 June 2009 @ 8:24 am

healthy-infant-150x150 How to handle infants cold

With ‘terrible’(I always feel terrible about any cold my infant may have or experienced) cold, the infant becomes so stuffy and it seems he can’t move air through his little nose. He coughs, he’s feeding less well, and he’s not sleeping as well as he had been.

Infants have at least one viral infection per month during their first year. And if your child is in daycare, that average rate doubles. Fortunately, though, few of these infections require medical intervention.

How you handle a cold in your infant depends on the infant’s age. An infant, who is under three months of age, should never have any form of decongestant. Their tiny bodies simply are not prepared to handle the medication. The best thing to do is to see your pediatrician, especially if the infant is running a fever, is having problems breathing, seems too drowsy, or refuses to eat.

Prevention and treatment of swine flu H1N1

Wednesday 27 May 2009 @ 2:46 am

uncomfortable-kiss Prevention and treatment of swine flu H1N1Swine flu H1N1 brings our life trouble and trepidation, we need to know more about it, especially the prevention and treatment for it.

The 2009 outbreak of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 is an epidemic of a new strain of influenza virus identified in April 2009, commonly referred to as “swine flu.” It is thought to be a mutation (”reassortment”) of four known strains of influenza A virus subtype H1N1: one endemic in humans, one endemic in birds, and two endemic in pigs (swine).[70] The source of the outbreak in humans is still unknown, but cases were first discovered in the U.S. and soon after in Mexico, which had a surge of cases, many of them fatal. As a result, the U.N.’s World Health Organization (WHO), along with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), expressed concern that this could become a worldwide flu pandemic, with WHO raising its alert level to “Phase 5″ out of the six maximum, indicating that a pandemic was “imminent.”

Far away from cold and flu

Friday 8 May 2009 @ 5:42 am

cold-and-flu-prevention-tips-150x150 Far away from cold and fluThe following prevention Tips can be very useful for you to be far away from Cold and flu.

* Wash your hands frequently, especially when returning home from a public place. Stay away from “antibacterial” soaps with triclosan.
* Change your hand towels often. Using a common towel may pass germs from one person to another.
* Clean the places that harbor the most germs in your house.
* Get plenty of sleep. Not getting enough sleep will negatively affect your immune system, leaving you more vulnerable to cold and flu viruses. Be aware of what your body needs (8 hours may not be enough for some people), and supplement it with quick cat-naps of 15 to 30 minutes if you can.
* Stay hydrated. Living and working inside with the heat on really dries you out, and it’s harder to remember to drink water when it isn’t hot outside.

happy-children-150x150 Child Care Tips: Take care of your childrens health in Winter* Encourage Children to Wash Their Hands Often

“Youngsters old enough to wash hands on their own, or with light supervision, should be taught to wash with soap and warm water,” Dr. Sears says. “If they’re rushing, slow them down with a game or song.” For babies, use fresh, alcohol-free cleansing wipes to clean their hands throughout the day, he says.

* Teach Children to Eat Well

Feed children natural illness-busting foods like whole grains and dark greens and antioxidant-rich fruits like colorful berries, Dr. Sears says. “Let them help you make choices in the grocery store by selecting vegetables and fruit with their favorite colors,” he says.

Watch your health

life-expectancy-150x150 Watch your health* Have more exercises
Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it’s a stress buster. Think ‘move’ in small increments of time. It doesn’t have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing. But that’s great when you’re up to it. Meanwhile, move more. Thought for the day: Cha, Cha, Cha…. Then do it!

beautiful-skin-200x300 Skin care Tips-Love my SkinSummer Skin Care tips:

* Stay out of the sun, if you can, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the sun is strongest.
* If you have to be out in the sun, wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants to protect your skin. Wear shirts made from tightly woven cloth, like long-sleeved cotton t-shirts. If the clothing fits loosely, you will feel cooler. You can also wear some Special sun-protective clothes.

* Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. Sun exposure increases your risk of getting cataracts.
* Wear a wide-brimmed hat to help protect your face, neck and ears from the sun. The best hat to wear in the sun has a brim that’s at least 6 inches all around. Baseball caps and similar hats don’t protect your ears and neck.

* Use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15, even on cloudy days. Clouds don’t protect your skin from sun damage. Only sunscreen can do that. Use lots of sunscreen and rub it in well. Put the sunscreen on 30 minutes before you go outside. Put the sunscreen everywhere the sun’s rays might touch you, including your forehead and face, your ears, the back of your neck and any bald parts on the top of your head. Some sunscreen products say they won’t drip into your eyes. You can try those products on your face if that’s a problem for you.

Natural Hair Loss Prevention Tips

Wednesday 22 April 2009 @ 9:31 am

beautiful-hair-150x150 Natural Hair Loss Prevention TipsVitamins to Take:

* Vitamin A

Vitamin A has a big part in producing sebum. Without it you’ll have dry hair, dandruff and a thick scalp. All of those symptoms could potentially cause you hair loss. First and second hand smoke along with aspirin and some prescription drugs could prevent Vitamin A absorption.

On the other end of the spectrum having too much sebum blocks hair follicles. So overdosing on Vitamin A could actually cause you even more hair loss.

Fortunately it’s impossible to over dose on Vitamin A when you get it from food sources. Mango, Oranges, Carrots, Sweet potato and Squash are all good sources of Vitamin A.

* Vitamin B

Treatment for women’s hair loss

Tuesday 21 April 2009 @ 9:20 am

more-about-hair-150x150 Treatment for womens hair lossHair defines many things for a woman –personality, attractiveness, success, health and social status, just to name a few. Losing it can have a dramatic effect on both self esteem and social life. Many women feel that with their hair, they’ve lost a large part of who they are.

The main difference between male and female hair loss is the pattern. In men the hairline recedes and moves further and further back until the man might be completely bald. However, with hair loss in women the hair thins in a very diffuse manner; female hair loss is evenly distributed over the scalp. As the hair gets thinner in female hair loss the scalp may become more visible. Hair loss can happen in women young or older, but the important thing to know is that there are hair loss options available.

Treatment for Men’s Hair Loss

Tuesday 21 April 2009 @ 8:48 am

hair-loss-types-150x150 Treatment for Mens Hair Loss* DHT Inhibitors - These work to reduce levels of DHT, by inhibiting its creation. The result is less DHT in your scalp, and relief for your follicles from the damaging effects it can bring. DHT inhibitors are equated with “stopping the cause of hair loss”, and are the foundational component to treating it.

* Growth Stimulants - There is a good side and a bad side to growth stimulants. While they create new hair growth, they do nothing to stop the cause, or further progression. Using only a growth stimulant can be an uphill battle. Two steps forward, one step back. Many guys combine DHT inhibitors with growth stimulants for a beautifully synergistic effect. Both stopping the cause, and stimulating new growth.

hair-loss-causes-150x150 Hair Loss causesReasons of losing hair

* Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they’ve had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Take good care of your Dry and Itchy Skin

Friday 6 March 2009 @ 6:37 pm

get-rid-of-dry-skin-150x150 Take good care of your Dry and Itchy SkinFretful, painful, unsightly and bored! I hate the damn dry and itchy skin! Dry air can cause your skin to become dry and itchy.

Firstly, It is necessary for us to learn what is dry skin and what cause it?

Dry skin is a common skin problem which is also called xerosis. It has a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. The skin has a parched look caused by its inability to retain moisture. It usually feels “tight” and uncomfortable after washing unless some type of moisturizer or skin cream is applied.

Have an overview of Eczema

Friday 27 February 2009 @ 10:24 am

skinstructure-150x150 Have an overview of Eczema

Eczema is a general term for many types of skin inflammation, also known as dermatitis. The most common form of eczema is atopic dermatitis (some people use these two terms interchangeably). However, there are many different forms of eczema.

Eczema can affect people of any age, although the condition is most common in infants. Eczema will permanently resolve by age 3 in about half of affected infants. In others, the condition tends to recur throughout life. People with eczema often have a family history of the condition or a family history of
other allergic conditions, such as asthma or hay fever. Up to 20% of children and 1%-2% of adults are believed to have eczema.

Eczema occurs in both children and adults, but usually appears during infancy. Although there is no known cause for the disease, it often affects people with a family history of allergies.

My baby has acne, what to do and what not to do

Thursday 19 February 2009 @ 9:47 am

Don’t put creams or oils on your baby’s skin, because these can make the acne worse. Don’t use over-the-counter acne medicines. Don’t pinch or scrub the acne. You may cause more irritation or an infection. Baby acne isn’t caused by dirt.

In fact, too much washing can further irritate your baby’s skin, so don’t overdo the cleansing. Simply wash your baby’s face with mild baby soap and water once a day. Gently pat it dry.

If you’re concerned about your baby’s complexion or it doesn’t clear up within three months, consult your baby’s doctor.

There’s little you can do to prevent baby acne. Patience is usually the best course of action. Your baby’s acne doesn’t bother him in the least, so try not to let it bother you, either.

beautiful-baby-150x150 What are the causes of baby acneBaby acne is very common. It can be present at birth, but more often it shows up after a couple of weeks, usually on the cheeks and sometimes on the forehead, chin, and even the back.

These small whiteheads might be surrounded by reddish skin. They can become more pronounced when your baby is hot or fussy or if his skin is irritated by saliva, spit-up milk, or fabric that’s a little rough or that’s been washed in strong detergent.

Acne treatment reviews

acne-treatment Acne treatment reviewsA patient with mild acne has a limited number of blackheads and whiteheads. A patient with mild acne has no evidence of skin inflammation. Over-the-counter medications offer the best treatment for mild acne. These medications generally contain either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

Treatment for moderate acne demands something that can handle a larger number of whiteheads and blackheads. Acne treatments for moderate acne should also provide the patient with a way to reduce skin inflammation. Two types of treatment appear to be best for controlling moderate acne. These are topical antibiotics and synthetic vitamins.
